Picking the Perfect Venue

When planning a business event, wedding, or other special event the venue is one of the first and most important decisions you will make. Consider the following aspects to consider when choosing the perfect venue for your event:

1.    Who is coming?
The number of guests attending will need to directly correlate to the venue selection. If a venue is too big, it can kill the intimate environment. If the venue is too small, it can leave guests feeling claustrophobic. When in doubt, always go bigger not smaller. Furniture and décor can always be used to dwarf the environment a little bit.

2.    What is included?
Depending on the type of event you are hosting, you might need some amenities included. Most venues will provide tables and chairs. If the event is for business, you might need a venue that includes Wi-Fi. If you won’t be hiring a DJ, you might need some audio equipment to allow a guest to play music from their phone or computer. Some venues may have in-house catering services as well. Make sure to ask the venue about free parking or local lot reservations.

3.    Where is it?
Consider not only your commute but the commute of your guests. More remote venues may be cheaper but the costs of printing informative signage to direct your attendees to the venue can get expensive. Will the venue be too far away and deter some of your guests from attending? Make sure to visit your venue before booking and make sure it can easily be found using a GPS.

4.    How much does it cost?
Make sure to compare quotes from many local locations. Consider additional costs like supplying any equipment not provided by the venue.

But it’s also an exciting time here because we’re busy preparing for the fall wedding season! Although a short season, fall weddings are always fun because they are filled with beautiful, ever-changing scenery, rich colors, and seasonal food/drink offerings.

Fall wedding trends this year are placing an emphasis on personalization - both for the happy couple, and for their wedding guests. Reception trends such as build-your-own food options, dessert selections beyond the wedding cake, food and drink pairings, and beverage tastings are popular. Decorative fall centerpieces such as apples, candles, lanterns, local wildflowers in heaping “free-form” arrangements, and tall, colorful, leafy branches are bringing the beauty of the season outside in.

About Our Courses

Tiburon Golf Club features 27 holes of Championship golf and superior greens. With over 12 acres of lakes and natural wooded areas, Tiburon offers both spectacular scenery and challenging golf shots. Three distinct nine-hole courses — Hammerhead, Mako, and Great White — provide variety and fun for players of all levels! Today’s blog will take an in-depth look at these three courses.

Tour Mako Course

Nine holes of breezy, open fairways sidle up to sparkling lakes. This is the shortest course of the three by yardage. The toughest tee shot on the course is Hole 3 - distance is the key to positioning yourself to have an approach shot to this green. Anything through the fairway or short of the fairway will leave you with trees blocking your approach. Anything on this green in two should be considered a victory.

Tour Hammerhead Course

Nine holes punctuated by rolling green hills, bunkers, and a picturesque lake. The signature hole, Hole 3, requires a well-placed tee shot to put you in position to make par. With OB right and a well placed fairway bunker to the left, accuracy is key here. Even with a well-placed tee shot, your downhill approach over a lake to a narrow green is intimidating. Don't be long though, as an up and down from over the green is not an easy task.

Tour Great White Course

Lastly we have the Great White, which is the longest of the three Tiburon courses at 3,525 yards from the back tees. Hole 4 gives you the best scoring opportunity for this nine. With OB to the left, and plenty of room right, aim for the heart of this fairway knowing a good miss is to the right. Definitely reachable in 2, but bunkers surrounding the green will eat up any off target approach shot. The toughest hole on the course is Hole 6. Big hitters may want to gamble and cut the right side corner to make this hole more manageable. Too far right, however, will find OB and any pulls could send you through the fairway and into the lake. A straight, 250 yard drive will leave you with a long iron into this narrow green. Any pars on this hole deserve congratulations!

Warm Up For Golf Season At Tiburon Golf Club

Are you dreaming about getting out on the golf course? Dust off your clubs and head over to Tiburon Golf Club! As soon as the weather is nice we start preparing our course for your first round of golf. Before you hit the green, prepare for the upcoming spring season with these golfing tips that will get you on your game!

Take Your Equipment Out of Storage
Has your golf bag and clubs been gathering dust all winter long? It's time to take out your equipment and make sure they are in top condition! If your clubs are over 3 years old, they have likely suffered some wear and tear. Assess the state of your equipment by examining the club grips, club shafts, club face and grooves.

Exercise
Physical fitness is a great way to prepare for a strong golfing season! Even if you don't want to hit the gym, you can still do warm-up exercises in the comfort of your own home. We recommended you prepare with crunches, torso twists, back stretches, hamstring stretches and side rotations.

Remember the Basics
After the long winter, your form might be a little off. When you finally hit the green, remember the basic forms and techniques of golfing. Push your hips back, angle your spine toward the ball, turn into your right side, keep your head behind the ball, straighten up your left side, and point your chest towards the target as you swing.

Start Practicing
To really prepare for the upcoming season, hit the course by yourself! This is a great time to sneak in some practice while the season in early and the weather is cool. Without the pressure of other golfers, you will be able to slowly work your way back into the swing of things.

The Sharks Bar & Grill at Tiburon Golf Club is a full-service sports bar, serving up delicious burgers and refreshing beverages amidst HD televisions broadcasting your favorite sporting events. Sharks Bar & Grill offers a 65 foot concrete bar with 6 high-definition televisions, a full service kitchen with nightly specials, a fully stocked bar, and energetic staff waiting to take your order. Sharks Bar & Grill is open year round and we are currently featuring daily lunch specials all winter long.
