Picking the Perfect Venue

When planning a business event, wedding, or other special event the venue is one of the first and most important decisions you will make. Consider the following aspects to consider when choosing the perfect venue for your event:

1.    Who is coming?
The number of guests attending will need to directly correlate to the venue selection. If a venue is too big, it can kill the intimate environment. If the venue is too small, it can leave guests feeling claustrophobic. When in doubt, always go bigger not smaller. Furniture and décor can always be used to dwarf the environment a little bit.

2.    What is included?
Depending on the type of event you are hosting, you might need some amenities included. Most venues will provide tables and chairs. If the event is for business, you might need a venue that includes Wi-Fi. If you won’t be hiring a DJ, you might need some audio equipment to allow a guest to play music from their phone or computer. Some venues may have in-house catering services as well. Make sure to ask the venue about free parking or local lot reservations.

3.    Where is it?
Consider not only your commute but the commute of your guests. More remote venues may be cheaper but the costs of printing informative signage to direct your attendees to the venue can get expensive. Will the venue be too far away and deter some of your guests from attending? Make sure to visit your venue before booking and make sure it can easily be found using a GPS.

4.    How much does it cost?
Make sure to compare quotes from many local locations. Consider additional costs like supplying any equipment not provided by the venue.
