What Happens On Golf Courses During Winter?

When you think about the winter season, what immediately comes to mind? Perhaps you envision the holiday season, gathered around the Christmas tree surrounded by your loved ones. You may even imagine a picturesque snowfall, covering the fall leaves with a blanket of white. But what might not immediately spring to mind is improving your golf game. After all, golf is a spring and summer played, best enjoyed in the warm sunshine during mild temperatures, right? Not necessarily. The most experienced golfers never stop thinking about their golf game, and do whatever it takes to enhance their skills, no matter what time of year it is.

Winter Golf Course

This can also be said for the best golf courses around—winter is not a time for rest and relaxation. Golf courses like ours take a number of steps during this frigid time of year to keep our holes in the best possible shape.

Here are just a few of the projects golf courses like ours will be working on this season to maintain a quality course for valued golfers like you:

We Get Rid of Snow
It’s no secret that we’re going to be seeing plenty of snow on the ground this season. But that’s not an excuse to stop taking care of our greens. It is generally required that at least one person at a golf course like ours is necessary to be kept on call for clearing snow during these upcoming months of unpredictable weather. This includes plowing our roads, parking lots, shoveling walkways, and applying de-icing agents.

The Greens Get Covered
It’s best that during the winter season that greens are carefully covered with items like tarps, synthetic covers, heavy sand, or even straw to protect them from significant weather damage. This will be our top priority this winter season.

We Clean up the Landscape
Snow, rain, wind, and ice cleanup across our property will happen on a frequent basis until the springtime. We’ll be taking on a number of projects, including removing damaged tree branches, discarding accumulations of leaves and soil, or any other surprises Mother Nature leaves for us. Once those items are removed, we’ll focus on remulching the landscaping and flowerbeds to give our course the pristine feel our golfers know and love.

Winter is the time for chestnuts roasting on an open fire and when the weather outside is frightful. But it’s also that outstanding maintenance is required on the best golf courses to get our area in exceptional shape for spring.  For more information and tips on how we use the winter months, contact your friends, experts, and avid golfers at Tiburon Golf Club. Improve Your Golf Game This Fall with These Expert Tips

The conclusion of summer doesn’t have to be met with disappointment. Sure, it’s okay to momentarily mourn the loss of extended hours of sunshine and warmer temperatures. But fall is arguably the most popular season of the year—and for good reason. The leaves become stunning shades of red and orange, NFL football is in full swing, and everything is pumpkin flavored. But there’s another reason to be excited for autumn’s arrival; it’s the perfect time of year to improve your golf game.

You read that right. Just because the temperatures have turned cooler, that is no excuse for you to give up your golf game in the coming months. In fact, you can even practice your swing and your putts even into January this year.

Here are a few ways that you can improve as a golfer during the delightful and underrated autumn months ahead.

Fall Golfing

Try a Softer Ball
It should come as no surprise that the outdoor temperature can have a great impact on your golf ball. You’re going to have less feeling in your swing the colder it becomes outside. However, if you think ahead and play with a softer ball during your next 18 holes, you can retain some of the feel that you typically have around the greens.

A Different Club is Key
One sad reality of golfing in the fall is that you likely aren’t going to hit your ball as hard when you tee off on a hole. But that’s no reason to get discouraged; there is an easy solution to this. Rather than give up your game until next spring, simply club up from what you would normally hit. It’s also good to keep in mind that colder ground means harder ground. This means you will get plenty of roll off your drive and even on the greens (putt carefully).

Don’t Forget Your Layers
While fall is one of the most optimal times of year to play golf, that doesn’t mean that the weather can’t sometimes get a little too chilly. So be prepared—start with clothing that simultaneously breathes, keeps you warm, and doesn’t inhibit your swing. We’d also recommend having an extra pair of socks and a rain jacket close by.

The date on the calendar is no excuse to abandon your golf game. Remember that there is still plenty of time to hit Tiburon Golf Club this year—we’d love to see you throughout the fall and winter seasons. Call us today to reserve your next tee time at 402-895-2688 or email us at matt@tiborongolf.com.

Fall Into Love

Fall Wedding Tiburon

The changing colors of the fall leaves makes a beautiful backdrop for autumn weddings. The stifling heat of summer can be challenging for outdoor weddings. Hard to keep your cool amongst wedding jitters when temperatures are soaring. Inspired by the beauty of the changing season, we’ve got some tips for planning an autumn wedding next season.

Fall Tiburon

Location
Fall is always a beautiful time to take a scenic drive. Enjoy this time and use it as an inspiration to find ideas for your wedding. Where would you love to have your wedding ceremony? Think about where you would want to have your wedding day photos. Will the photos be at a separate location from the ceremony and reception? Ask friends and family for suggestions. Look at local magazines or online for ideas on scenic drives that may shed light on some on gems of new locations you have never seen before. This is a great time to take engagement photos that can be used for wedding invitations, so you can carry the autumn theme throughout the planning stages of your wedding. Are there fall activities that you could incorporate into the wedding day festivities such as hay rides, corn mazes, or even Halloween flourishes?

The Color and Style of the Season
The beauty of autumn can be an inspiration throughout your wedding planning stages. You can use the beautiful palette of rich autumn red, orange and yellow colors throughout the design process - from invitations to wedding day signs, to dresses and bouquets. Think about seasonal foods for the reception menu - and even presents for wedding guests. Imagine a cute basket of fall foods such as maple syrup, apple, apple cider, pumpkin cream muffins as a gift for wedding guests. The dinner menu can include flourishes such as butternut squash soup, maple-glazed crusted salmon, and, of course, pumpkin pie. Take time to explore fall cooking recipes and look for inspiration within the fall harvest.
Attire
If you will be making the most of the outdoor splendor and getting married outside - make sure you plan a wardrobe that is versatile enough to add layers for you and your wedding party if the day is especially crisp. Will your dress have long sleeves or will you add a shawl or cute cardigan? Maybe even supply lap blankets for guests to use. Having an outdoor fire with hot apple cider for your guests to warm up around can be a cozy twist.

Business Golf Etiquette

All work, no play - but what if there was a way to mix the two? Regardless of industry or size, every business has someone to impress, to entertain, to persuade. Making a sale isn’t always as simple as “sell me this pen.” Planning a golf outing at Tiburon Golf Course can allow for partners to mingle in a less professional more personal setting.  Just like in an office, it is important to be professional. Here are some business golf etiquette tips to remember.

 Business Golf Etiquette

Take Lessons: To attend a business golf outing, you need not be ready for the PGA. But make sure you appear competent. If you’re just a little rusty, consider chipping some balls at the closes range.

Dress to Impress: Golf clothes can range in formality. If you are not familiar with the course or area, a quick call to the pro shop can save you the embarrassment, Rickie Fowler.

Play Fair: Golf referees are not necessary, sportsmanship is. If a client sees you cheating on the course, what will they think about your overall morals? Keep all tantrums holstered. Everyone misses a 5 foot putt once in awhile.

Don’t Drink (Much): Depending on the occasion, a beer or two may be appropriate. If this outing is focused on making a sale, the 18th hole is often where the deal is closed. Beer breath and inebriated golf cart driving will not help your case. Ensure you are being fun, this isn’t all business after all. It may be best to wait until after the round to sit at the bar for a cold one.

Don’t Place Bets: Just Don’t.

Since 1989, Tiburon Golf Club has offered beautiful rolling hills, greens, and atmosphere on our 27-hole golf courses. Our Omaha facility features offer a comfortable environment for businesses to mingle out on the course and then retire to a contemporary meeting room to seal the deal. Each meeting room is fitted with drop down screens, projectors, and catered cuisine if you so wish. Planning the Perfect Summer Wedding

Mcwu1kquwbpbh2idfa0hcqn8gkrrahgmpcj4jw746ik2 d3n1bvk9myaihghgc1fbf8qobq049emxq8jmrtnabahklpz0anrmdd69y7501kqh3zqr2se0f0sq7okw1pgm4d ic9o

Summer can be one of the best times to plan a wedding. From the great weather to the fun summer vibes, summer is the most popular season to tie the knot in.  If you are planning a summer wedding, we recommend following these simple tips so your wedding can go off without a hitch.

1. Provide Heat Relief - Regardless of how beautiful the weather is, your guests will want to escape the sun at some point.  Be sure to provide some kind of air conditioning or shade (tents).

2. Provide Lots of Water – The last thing you want is for your guests to get dehydrated, especially if alcohol is on the menu.  Be sure to scatter tubs of water bottles around the ceremony site and near the dance floor.  Don’t forget about your vendors too!  Keeping them hydrated will ensure a smooth wedding day.

3. Send Save-the-Dates well in advance – Summers can be very busy, especially to families of school age children who want to plan a vacation. Sending early invitations will allow them to plan their summers accordingly.

4. Serve Lighter Fares – Heavy food and heat don’t mix.  Be sure to serve light appetizers and entrees that will keep your guests in the party mood.  Be sure to consider the farm-to-table trend by offering a seasonal menu that offers grilled entrees and fresh, local produce.  For example, grilled fruit skewers can make tantalizing desserts that could substitute heavier desserts such as cake or pie.

5. Don’t schedule your wedding for midday – Midday is when the sun is the strongest, and overheated guests will be tired and sluggish. Your guests won’t be too excited about eating a big meal and drinking alcoholic beverages in peak sunlight. Try to schedule in the late afternoon or early evening.  The sunset will be a beautiful touch to your wedding.

6. Consider stay-cool attire  - A good tip for everyone going to the wedding, but especially the bride.  The bride should be cool and comfortable, not sticky.  Pick a wedding dress that has a light, breathable fabric such as silk. Or if the traditional ball gown is for you, consider changing into something lighter for dancing.

7. Sunscreen  - Prior to getting dressed, everyone in attendance should apply sunscreen to areas getting exposed. Don’t let sunburn ruin the day! If hosting, consider leaving sunscreen/ bug spray in the guest bathrooms to ensure everyone is comfortable.

For your perfect wedding location, consider Tiburon Golf Club and Banquet Facility. Call us at (402) 895-2688 today to make a reservation.

You can’t go wrong with a classic!  Traditionally a symbol of prosperity and fertility, tossing rice has been a tradition in Europe since the Middle Ages.  Contrary to urban legend, raw rice is not harmful to birds.  However, if you’d like a more avian-friendly option, consider birdseed instead!

  1. Rose Petals
Whether or not roses are your wedding flower, tossing these petals is an elegant send-off option.  Here’s a step-by-step description of how to prepare for the toss on your big day.

  1. Pom Poms
If you’re looking for a colorful, budget-conscious option, consider pom poms.  Check out how they make photos pop in this DIY wedding to remember!  Got a lot of time on your hands or a very helpful bridal party?  Consider making your own.

  1. Confetti Poppers
Confetti isn’t just for New Years!  Confetti poppers can be picked up at your local party supply store, purchased specifically with weddings in mind, or, like so many wedding ideas these days make on your own.

  1. Sparklers
This send-off idea really lights up the night!  For an after-dark reception exit, nothing beats sparklers.  Remember, you are dealing with fire.  Click here to learn about wedding sparkler mistakes to avoid.

  1. Bubbles
Easily distributed to your guests, bubbles add a touch of whimsy to your concluding celebrations.  Plenty of manufacturers offer the option to personalize individual bubble containers as wedding favors.  Scroll down through this Tennessee wedding to see snapshots of their sudsy send-off.

  1. Leaf Confetti
Planning ahead for your autumn wedding?  Creating your own confetti from vibrant leaves is easy and environmentally friendly.

  1. Glow Sticks
Keep the party moving off the dance floor and out the door with a glow stick send off!  They’re easy to distribute, require no clean up, and make for great photos.

  1. Personalized Flags
If you’re looking for a daylight option that doesn’t require excessive clean-up, consider these fun DIY signs!  If you’d prefer something less wordy, consider creating your own elegant, colorful ribbon wands.
