Summer can be one of the best times to plan a wedding. From the great weather to the fun summer vibes, summer is the most popular season to tie the knot in.  If you are planning a summer wedding, we recommend following these simple tips so your wedding can go off without a hitch.

1. Provide Heat Relief - Regardless of how beautiful the weather is, your guests will want to escape the sun at some point.  Be sure to provide some kind of air conditioning or shade (tents).

2. Provide Lots of Water – The last thing you want is for your guests to get dehydrated, especially if alcohol is on the menu.  Be sure to scatter tubs of water bottles around the ceremony site and near the dance floor.  Don’t forget about your vendors too!  Keeping them hydrated will ensure a smooth wedding day.

3. Send Save-the-Dates well in advance – Summers can be very busy, especially to families of school age children who want to plan a vacation. Sending early invitations will allow them to plan their summers accordingly.

4. Serve Lighter Fares – Heavy food and heat don’t mix.  Be sure to serve light appetizers and entrees that will keep your guests in the party mood.  Be sure to consider the farm-to-table trend by offering a seasonal menu that offers grilled entrees and fresh, local produce.  For example, grilled fruit skewers can make tantalizing desserts that could substitute heavier desserts such as cake or pie.

5. Don’t schedule your wedding for midday – Midday is when the sun is the strongest, and overheated guests will be tired and sluggish. Your guests won’t be too excited about eating a big meal and drinking alcoholic beverages in peak sunlight. Try to schedule in the late afternoon or early evening.  The sunset will be a beautiful touch to your wedding.

6. Consider stay-cool attire  - A good tip for everyone going to the wedding, but especially the bride.  The bride should be cool and comfortable, not sticky.  Pick a wedding dress that has a light, breathable fabric such as silk. Or if the traditional ball gown is for you, consider changing into something lighter for dancing.

7. Sunscreen  - Prior to getting dressed, everyone in attendance should apply sunscreen to areas getting exposed. Don’t let sunburn ruin the day! If hosting, consider leaving sunscreen/ bug spray in the guest bathrooms to ensure everyone is comfortable.
