Business Golf Etiquette

All work, no play - but what if there was a way to mix the two? Regardless of industry or size, every business has someone to impress, to entertain, to persuade. Making a sale isn’t always as simple as “sell me this pen.” Planning a golf outing at Tiburon Golf Course can allow for partners to mingle in a less professional more personal setting.  Just like in an office, it is important to be professional. Here are some business golf etiquette tips to remember.

 Business Golf Etiquette

Take Lessons: To attend a business golf outing, you need not be ready for the PGA. But make sure you appear competent. If you’re just a little rusty, consider chipping some balls at the closes range.

Dress to Impress: Golf clothes can range in formality. If you are not familiar with the course or area, a quick call to the pro shop can save you the embarrassment, Rickie Fowler.

Play Fair: Golf referees are not necessary, sportsmanship is. If a client sees you cheating on the course, what will they think about your overall morals? Keep all tantrums holstered. Everyone misses a 5 foot putt once in awhile.

Don’t Drink (Much): Depending on the occasion, a beer or two may be appropriate. If this outing is focused on making a sale, the 18th hole is often where the deal is closed. Beer breath and inebriated golf cart driving will not help your case. Ensure you are being fun, this isn’t all business after all. It may be best to wait until after the round to sit at the bar for a cold one.

Don’t Place Bets: Just Don’t.

Since 1989, Tiburon Golf Club has offered beautiful rolling hills, greens, and atmosphere on our 27-hole golf courses. Our Omaha facility features offer a comfortable environment for businesses to mingle out on the course and then retire to a contemporary meeting room to seal the deal. Each meeting room is fitted with drop down screens, projectors, and catered cuisine if you so wish.
